PRADA Identity
Brand
Identity Board: the visual designed elements used to identify
the brand and communicates its' visual identity – name, logo, typography,
photography, symbols/illustrations, colours. This board should demonstrate how
the brand uses these features and their rules of application (Brand
Guidelines/Brand Standards).
Name
- PRADA
Logo
- Prada used to have the insignia of the Italian royal family in their logo due to their amazing craftsmanship.
- The original emblem is still in use for some items, but has been modified and changed into an inverted triangle. Prada's now-iconic emblem plaque embodies the brand's minimalist look, which is both classy and modish. Almost every Prada bag has one on the outside, which is the house's exclusive form of branding (the brand's name, city of origin, year of origin, and coat of arms are all included on each triangular logo plaque).
Typography
Prada Candy Typeface by Gareth Hague | Alias
- There is no specific 'Prada Font', however many creators make similar or inspired by fonts that you can use within your work.
- Prada's fonts are bold, thick in width and stylized to give that modern

- Prada often uses bright colours such as pastels or vivid primary palettes depending on their aesthetic in the moment. It's an interesting paradox as when you think of Prada, you think black, white, and dull pastels in order for the items/pieces to look sophisticated. Since Prada doesn't back away from a challenge, they make intense colour look and feel luxurious rather than looking like a 'clown'.
- As for photography, it's almost always shot behind a single colour background, usually neutrals, in order for the model and clothes to stand out.
- The models always have a serious gaze to portray perhaps attitude, confidence and maturity. This is very appealing since these are all the qualities we look into in terms of what we think is high-fashion.
Symbols/ Illustrations
Megan Hess - Prada
- Megan Hess seems to be the most popular search results for being an illustrator for Prada.
- According to google, there are 7 illustrators (including Miuccia herself): Megan Hess, Natsume Ono, Joelle Jones, Emma Rios, Wong Ping, Christophe Chemin, and Carsten Holler.
- I see that Prada likes the traditional way of drawing their ideas by the use of sketching with a marker and perhaps a bit of mark-making due to the strokes on Hess's illustration above.
Colours
- Here I'm going to try to generate my own colour palette based on Prada's colour schemes and items.
- I also could use this to generate colours for my 4 mood boards so that everything flows in a cohesive way.
